Default help conveting welder to tig

i have a miller 250 with ac and dc power. i went and got a tig torch and argon but cant seem to get it correct. i set the torch to negative and metal to positive what i have read. then when i scratch off it want start unless i turn the welder all way up and it blows a hole in my part. i suck at it any help would be good

Sounds like you just need to get better at scratch starting. you shouldn't have to crank the voltage if you have proper gas flow.
