Default heater box idea....?

well my heater box broke when i was taking it out of my car....one of the "doors" if you will.....so now my window wont defrost and it sucks....so i figured i could fix the box...or try to lose a little weight by making my own......i figure if i use about 4 of those computer fans and make my own box i can route the air just to the windsheild and make a box just big enough for the core and the fans.... i could use the stock piping for the window defrost and cut out all of the rest....and block off whatever i need.......i would then lose the wieght of the blower motor and all of the different routing tubes....i know its not alot of weight or anything...but anything counts right?.....so what do you guys think.....

Why not just fix the part that broke? Or get the part form a junkyard? no need to reinvent the wheel man.

In my ice race CRX. We took all the crap dash out. There is a flat area where all the heat comes out. We made a plate that bolts on the with 6 1 inch holes. Then used small black tubes from a vacum cleaner, this way we point the heat where it is needed.

The heater core is enclosed in a plastic box. There is a flat square opening where that housing mates to the rest of the ducting. He put a plate on that with holes in it and flexible tubing out of the holes. I think that is the jist of it.
