Harbor Freight TIG

I just got this baby today
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/pho...1899/91811.gif
But it says 220V input. Did you buy a step up transformer for it or just plugged it in 110V. There's no included plug either. Any tips in using TIG with this?

Re: Harbor Freight TIG

You need to wire up a 220 plug from the panel. You can build a plug to go in the dryer outlet as well.

Didn't the welder come with instruction? It should tell you what wires are what. But if I was a betting man I would say that the green wire would go to the bottom lug, and the white + black wires go to the lugs on the sides. The top lug that is green would be left open. On a dryer it would be a wire running from the plug to the chassis of the dryer.

Re: Harbor Freight TIG

Top green lug is a ground. That is a 3 phase plug. You only need 2 of the other lugs. Take a meter and check the outlet.

Pretty sure newer model dryers have 4 prong plugs. I just had to replace my wall socket for our new dryer. The top green lug was for a wire that just went to the inside of the dryer and tied to the dryer's frame. Then the toerh three where just like to old plug.
