How expensive is a 3" V-Band kit normally? From what I saw your looking at $40 for 2 flanged and a clamp. McMaster is $10 cheaper then that.

Re: FYI: McKMaster carry V-band clamps

I got one of those ebay specials for $30 and the fucker leaks constantly. I dont really care though because its not too loud, and it jsut makes the turbine sound even more pleasant :y

Machine the flange faces down. Did you weld them with the clamp really tight? They may have warped if you didnt.

I actually picked up the piece from McMaster, seals great plus has a grove in it for a viton seal even if you want.

If they aren't clamped down before welding...you'll have fun getting them to seal. I welded my flange for my 60mm vband wastegate and the flange wouldn't slip into the wastegate afterwards. With a little convincing with a mallet it went on, but getting it off probably will be a blast. lol.

McMaster-Carr = $37.10:
3" flange t304: $9.36 x2
3" bolted (not t-bar) t304 clamp: $18.38

Personally, I'm sticking with racing-solutions. Don't forget your 5% forum discount + the shipping is always cheaper.
1 Stainless V-Band Clamp and 2 Mild Steel Sealing Flanges. Sale price: 95% of $35.00 = $33.25

-$7 for a wing nut clamp (vs. the 2 bolt clamp) and replace the wing nut with a spacer and a nut (which btw seals just as well and you spend $36.12 shipped... why pay Racing-Solutions inflated shipping charges. $14.00+ for a v-band assembly? you kidding me they could drop those in a USPS flat rate box and have them to you for $8 or just pay McMaster-Carr $4 shipping.

We get a hmt discount at racing solutions? I just ordered 250 dollars worth of stuff including 2 3" v-bands. so when I get them welded they need to be clamped together?

Its best to clamp them down yes, we've welded them without before but if you do you must make sure you stitch them and go slow to keep the heat down.

If you call them, the shipping is less.

And order from them because you can also order an ass------- load more from them at the same time. Unlike McM which historically overprices almost every thing they sell, plus last time I checked. RcR sponsors on a dozen forums I'm on. I'd rather them get the money.
When was the last time McM forked over probably a grand+ a month in sponsorships to car forums eh? They don't...

I don't care who they sponsor and of course McMaster wont sponse CAR forums, hell i dont think they intend to seel anything to car people to begin with. I didn't have to order an ass------- load of other stuff or maybe RcR would have been a viable option. I needed 1 3in V-Band setup, and what I got for a good price was a high quality piece that works. I will have to say McMaster is not overpriced and I've shown this before their prices are spot on with Ace Stainless for weld-els and as you can see damn close if not cheaper then RcR for a single v-band setup. Plus you cant beat their shipping prices either. Hell they shipped me 3ft of 2in sc40 steel pipe for $4 and I got it next day.

Re: FYI: McKMaster carry V-band clamps

We can fit up to 10 sets of vbands in a USPS flate rate box for $9.50 priority anywhere in the US. Our store does not support automated shipping calculator with USPS though, so if you want USPS you have to call in the order.
