Default Flange Thicness

What is the standard thickness of exhaust turbinge outlet and inlet flanges? I was gonna buy some steel plate and use an oxy/acet torch that we have at work to cut out the basic shape, then grind it smooth w/ a die grinder and carbide cutting bit. I was thinkin quarter inch would be fine but maybe I need more.

Comments?

Thanks

Nothing smaller than 3/8". Make sure you bolt them down to limit the warp.

yeah I figured i'd make sure they're torqued down tight and even and that would limit warpage. will I get alot of warpage from using the oxyfuel torch though?

Any time you add heat there is a chance of warpage.
