extreme turbo modification help
ok so i have a holset h1c and a holset h2d that i am going to try and make a nice hybrid turbo out of the two
what im going to try and do is machine the exhaust wheel and chra (from h2d) to except my 12cm housing off the h1c mostly what i want to know is how should i go about machining the turbine wheel (im thinking a lathe is my best option that way all the fins would still be the same and balanced but im not sure how the fins will do on a lathe) what do you guys think would be the best option for the machining the wheel |
well i just got a he351ve for a steal so that is my new serious project but im am still interested if you can machine turbo wheels on a lathe if anybody knows that would be great

without expensive balancing, machining and hardening equipment building your own turbo is not an option. a lathe will not be able to machine the turbine wheel fins. u will most likely need a cnc milling machine for that. but before any machining can take place the heat treatment will have to be removed before and after machining. then everything balanced. its a waste of time and money. buy the turbo you want for a fraction of the cost of attempting to make this hybrid.

i can temper and untemper steel its not all that hard i was just wondering if it would be easier to use a mill or lathe for it
thanks for the input |
