stunt plane?

Re: exhaust i was working on today
nice ---- man. Must be fun being able to make welds like that.
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
the planes are acrobatic airshow planes
i didnt weld it, just assembled it(although my tig welds are getting pretty good) this is what the planes look like http://extraaircraft.com/images/ea300L/3extra6.jpg |
Re: exhaust i was working on today
YOU WORK ON EXTRA 300Ls?!?!?!?!?!
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
yup. we are a dealer. every single one that comes into this country comes through us 1st
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
cool stuff.
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
Id hate to ---- one up. if i ---- up a car at least it comes back on a tilt tray. ---- up a plane and it comes back in small pieces lol.
do you get to road test? |
Re: exhaust i was working on today
i am a pilot but i dont have enough hours to be on the company insurance. we have a test pilot and i have gone up and done some aerobatics

Re: exhaust i was working on today
That's sweet. Every other runner goes to a collector under the engine. I assume that is for a turbo?
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
no. they only turbo airplanes for high altitude flying. i really dont know why they dont use turbos to make more power though. that is the complete exhaust on the plane. that exhaust adds quite a bit of power. airplanes make power a lot different than cars. they want zero back pressure and only rev to 2700 rpm. that plane makes about 310hp at 2700rpm, its also a 540 cu.in. 6 cylinder

Re: exhaust i was working on today
I guess you would want lots of torque lol. Thats a fucken big engine.
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
yea. i have a piston, cylinder and valves. ill take a pic to show how big it all is later today
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
looks good

Re: exhaust i was working on today
Before anyone yips about how little power it makes for the displacement, everyone has to remember that aircraft engines, like marine engines, are designed to operate at heavy loads for an extended time....so for the same displacement as an automotive engine you get less power due to more conservative tune. A lot of marine engines run 1 degree ATDC total timing.
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
these engines run at 25 degrees btdc. they also only rev to 2700rpm, so 300hp at 2700 rpm is way better than any stock car engine

Re: exhaust i was working on today
nice, must be fun being around planes.
|
Re: exhaust i was working on today
yea, its pretty cool. i just wish i could fly more
