there's no purpose in wrapping it cause the exhaust is nowhere close to the charge piping. Dumb fucks, have you never seen the engine bay of those old turbo Dodges?

have you ever heard of radiant heat? engine bay temps?


and actually, no, i had never seen the engine bay of an old turbo dodge daytona in person before, ---- wad.





and yes, wrapping it would help reduce heat soak from the radiant heat of the engine.

Yes there i some radiant heat, but I doubt the charge air is sitting in the pipe long enough to pick up any heat.

under boost, most likely not.


regular driving around town, YES, it will soak it up.

Oh will it? So air just sits in the pipe and collects the 100 degree heat if your not under boost right? O0

Maybe every body should just heat wrap every single pipe, and hose on their car.

You gotta think a little, your thinking way to hard. The air is not passing through any type of finned core in the engine bay. And significant temperature change is going to happen inside the inter cooler, where it has the surface area, material, and restriction needed to do so.

I can touch the pipe after driving it, and its warm, but not hot at all. Beside even the air passing through the pipe at idle is moving very quick. The point of the intercooler is to decrease the temperature of the air to cancel out the heating of the air due to pressurization. So I really could give a ---- less if its getting hot while grannying it around town.

If your charge pipes were ever to hot to touch you would only be messing around under the hood looking for the massive hole in block that all the oil you trailed down the street came out of.

Detonation is sensetive to iat's a if you have a car on the edge of detonation and the intake air heats up it will push thing over the knock limit pretty quickly. You have to be stupid to do something that drastic though like have your air filter next to the wastegate dump or something like that.

That's some good ---- right there. Those fmic's will work quite well for a decent sized turbo setup, but anything over the 20psi range tends to warm them up a little bit with a smaller turbo. I ran my stock unit at 25psi and it worked ok, but there was a noticeable difference when I upgraded to a bar and plate honeywell core. Glad to see these fmic's being put to good use.

junkyard ALUMINUM intercooler piping is best. and way easier too.
