Default DIY Wastegate Actuator

Hello, not new to forums but new this forum.

I see in most discussion the main application has to do with gas engines. I have an 01 F350 7.3 diesel, but hopefully the application of the turbo is the same enough that someone can help me out.

I'm wanting to make my own adjustable wastegate actuator. Something like this. I will be back home at the end of the month and will have access to a machine shop and various small parts. I just wanted to see if anyone has made something like this before, and get some ideas. I have made a rough prototype of something like this, but I have no clue what the spring tension is on it.

I think I messed up my stock wastegate actuator when I pulled the turbo housing off. Usually you would pull a E-clip out to take the rod off. But instead I used the housing to pry against the spring tension. All of that effort was in vain as I ended up pulling the turbo. I did dremmel the mounting bracket on the housing where the actuator mounts at so next time I can just slide the actuator off next time I have to mess with it. I may try to take the actuator off and do a couple of twist of the rod coupling to change the length of the rod.
