dirty cheap log manifold

4 Attachment(s)
Well here it is, the $25 log manifold:

Attachment 25109
Attachment 25110
Attachment 25111
Attachment 25112

Budget:

Exhaust head flange: $10
Pipe fittings: ~$15
turbo flange: Free with purchase of turbo at junkyard.

Best $25 I've spent. Going to shoot it with some High temp flat black tommorow.

It looks like ass, probably flows like ----, but it works and it's cheap.

probably a place like home depot..just guessing

hey, you should put some extra bracing from the turbo flange up to the runners...just for safe measure... not knocking your welds, but it would be better to brace now, then drive down the road and see your turbo behind you :y

seen some pipe fittings there, but are'nt they galvanized from home depot?

Re: dirty cheap log manifold

I used black iron pipe fittings, not galvanized Home depot didn't have 1 1/4" black iron near me, just galvanized. So I went to another local hardware store. Homedepot near me sucks balls, their plumbing department is terrible.

I ground the threads out with a carbide bit in a die grinder.

Yeah I have some 3/4" x 1/4" strips of steel I'm probably going to brace it with. I'm sure the welds will hold fine I have plenty of welder (180 Hobart mig), but the turbo does come out at a 45* for clearance, so that adds to the stress rather than straight down. And that ---- is cast, which isn't the best to weld,

Did you preheat the cast before welding,or did you just go for it? Looks good, can't beat the price! :y

nice job ;) looks like your ground down the T fitting welds a lot. hopefully you didn't take away from the weld strength

hme depot doesnt sell anything worth a damn for hmt stuff. Hit up the old school hardware stores much more specialized and have old men who actually ahve a clue what is going on
