Dead blow hammers
What is the main use for dead blow hammers ? I've seen a lot of people use them lately, do people use them because they don't mark the surface their hitting ?

Re: Dead blow hammers
using a dead blow hammer isn't just to prevent marking what you are hitting. you can use a simple rubber mallet for that. dead blow hammers have sand in them that help prevents vibration when you strike what you are hitting.

Re: Dead blow hammers
Yeah, they don't bounce off of what you hit either. A lead hammer does much the same thing as a rubber mallet with shot inside it depending on what you're doing. I prefer the rubber/plastic ones though because lead obviously tends to seperate and smash easily.
