Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
Hey, made a different style intake the other day and thought I'd show it off. Its for a neon and it's set up for 2 sets of injectors. The car runs off the regular set and the second set kicks in under boost and is controlled by a seperate controller.

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
Its pretttty. What exactly is used to control the injectors? And for some reason I thought it was going to have a neon on it.... not made for a Neon.

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
holy ----, better than some professional units i've seen. Just, why a neon? Also how smooth is it when the second injectors kick in?

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake

:o :o Wow!!! :o :o :o Do you own your own machine shop?

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
To answer a few questions. The first 4 injectors are controlled by the stock ecu. I can't rememeber what the name of the controller is he's using for the second set, but it was pretty easy to set up and you don't notice it kick on. The big thing is it allows for a perfect stock idle with no loading up issues that you get with large injectors and short pulse width.
As far as the TB goes, it's an aftermarket one...75mm if I remember correctly Lastly, no, I don't own my own machine shop...well, I sorta do. I've got a regular day job but I build intake and exhaust manifolds, port cylinder heads and manifolds, as well as do stuff like ceramic coatings and other thermal coatings, plus some powder coating. I'm partnered up with two other guys and we have plans to eventually take things off as a full time business. Check out our website if you've got some spare time. It all started out with getting fed up with other businesses and their poor customer service and worthless products. So we started making our own. My partner (Andre) does the majority of the head porting and has spent many years doing it at a machine shop before he decided to change careers to being a cop. Well, I know that I got a little off topic...oh well www.lonewolfperformance.com The site is still under consant construction but it gives the general idea of what we're capable of. Lastly, Link, we could make one for your mustang, but we don't have one in out fleet of cars to be able to test fit and do mock-up on. Otherwise we're game. We're currently working on manifold to adapt a supercharger off a gtp onto a mitsu...looks very promising for cheap power... |

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
what thickness of sheet metal and such do you use to make those intake mani's? as well as what procedure do you use to weld it all up? I've been wanting to make my own for some time now and just haven't found out much about it???

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
I'm turboing my neon...whats a price on that bitch?
|
Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
its really nice, but wouldnt it be better if the end of the plenum was rounded instead of flat? :-\

Re: Custom dual fuel rail neon intake
Spoon fed - That one sold for $600 since it was setup for 2 rails.
Boosted_b16 - I'm not sure if I fully understand what you mean. Are you talking about the end plate next to the last runner (opposite of the TB):? And are you wanting it dome shaped or something? I really don't understand, but am curious as to what your talking about and if there is any benefit to it or not. I've seen a lot of stock intakes like I think you're describing but thats mostly due to them being cast aluminum and round shapes are much easier to cast than sharp corners and edges. Shanerv - the plenum is actually pretty thick. Schedule 40 aluminum. It allows me to tap the plenum itself for fittings and such anywhere I need them. Depending on the type of intake, I use various thicknesses as they are available and appropriate to use. The big chuncks are just solid billet that is machined. Everything is set up for press fit clearances so it makes it really easy to weld up and make sure that nothing moves while its being "tacked" in place. Bigciv- I know what you mean, thats why I started making my own stuff. Too many companies have screwed me over in the past or just don't offer the parts or services that I want...so I started learning to do it myself. Keep building stuff in your spare time and helping your buddies out...you might start your own shop some day. |
