Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

No, the worst idea yet is when you put fake carbon fiber fenders on your cholo orange accord. The turbo/manfold came out blingage.

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

except for when you had to replace the turbo, atleast i can take off my fenders, I know I'm a ricer steve you don't need to rub it in, sorry if I offended the hmt prez, I did vote for ya, are you going to be at the welding class at the boost factory? I gotta figure out how to get there

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

I welded my turbo to the adaptor plate, then bolted the adapter plate to the manifld. worked fine.

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

i welded my friends sc61 to a love fab log because he kept having probs with the bolts shaking out and it would never hold. i did two tacks with super little to no penetration on each side of the mateing surface , just enough to keep some weight off the bolts and it solved the prob. we later had to take the two apart and i just used a hammer and a chizzle and knocked the tacks off. went very smooth.

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

as long as you dont go apeshit with it, you can cut/grind/break the welds later on. there is a small chance i have to do a tiny bit of welding to get my downpipe onto my exaust housing, but id really rather not

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

my manifold had the wrong flange for my turbo, and i couldnt be bothered buying a new flange. well one day I had a couple of drinks and welded the ---- out of the turbo to the manifold. one of the worst idea's ever, dont even know if the turbo is good because I've never had it mounted.

oh well, if it needs to come off it can be cut/grinded/machined off. ...but i wouldnt like to do that job.

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

If you ever need to replace the turbo you could just unbolt the exhaust housing and replace the center section and compressor, reusing the exhaust housing and manifold.

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

my 1st set-up i had the turbo welded to the manifold....i didnt have any problems with it (i was lucky) but if you encounter any problems with your turbo....this would be a pain in the ass

Re: can i weld the turbo to the manifold

We did it on my freinds z6. It worked great! Everyone told us it was going to fall off because your not supposed to weld cast plus our shitty welding. Never fell off. Oh, and we welded a quarter over the o2 hole haha.
