build ur own tractions bars

im new to this forum but I remember a friend of mine showing me on this site i believe that you can buy parts to make you own traction bars. does anyone know where i can buy parts like that?

toyollAZ86 04-02-2009 01:33 PM

some parts are on mcmaster
and others are on speedwaymotors (i think).
you gotta search around on those two sites.
and they arent easy to find.

1991_sleeper 04-04-2009 06:31 PM

i was

I was thinking the same, but ur measurements and welds need to be right on.

toyollAZ86 04-05-2009 12:05 AM

no welds just measurements.
should take about 3 hours to make
and cost about 1/3 what it sells
for on the market.

Would tractions bars help out even if you had filled engine mounts and solid bushings all the way around??

you must not understand what traction bars actually do

solid engine mounts will make you need them more

r_senik 04-05-2009 01:06 PM

someone needs to do a write up on this forum

amimaxima 04-06-2009 05:21 PM

I'd be interested to know as well, I mean there would be an unnoticeable amount of power gained to the ground by ditching that tiny amount of mechanical loss but...

mike oxlong 04-08-2009 11:37 PM

ne pixs yet

redlinevtec 04-09-2009 09:17 PM

get pics

Scott-EP 04-10-2009 07:04 AM

there isnt a whole lot to elaborate on. when you get rid of a weak link, the next weak link shows up. if you get rid of the movement of the engine, you put more power to the wheels and need traction bars even more.

there is no one secret mod that will make things better. it always takes multiple things to fix one problem when you start getting into higher power levels

amimaxima 04-10-2009 09:12 AM

^ arent they used to take the movement out of the lower control arms

MAJORAHOLE 04-10-2009 12:14 PM

yes, once the engine stops moving the lca's will start to flex out too, thus traction bars

and there was a write up on here a while back, dont know where it is now.

found it

no good the pics arent working on that old thread.

Inkedfireman 04-12-2009 07:42 AM

I confess I don't understand FWD traction bars either. Can someone update this with diagrams of what forces the traction bars are controlling, and pics of some mounted?

sparklingwiggle 04-12-2009 10:07 PM

Someone update the how to thread I'm really interested. Please get this going it sound like a fun simple project.

tkda 04-13-2009 12:25 AM

eliminating wheel hop. stiffer mounts make for more wheel hop.

anela44 04-13-2009 01:30 AM

I bought a set and they seem simple to fabricate and build.

anela44 04-13-2009 01:32 AM

They would be cheaper if you build your own but was also easy to just buy it and just install it.

I highly doubt an update would actually happen because the guy that done it was most likely banned and then hosted all of his pics on another site so that none of the pictures would show up.

BuGS 04-13-2009 01:03 PM

Thanks for the help! I understand now! :D

sparklingwiggle 04-14-2009 04:16 PM

Hahahahaha thats no good. oh well.

MoFasterthenUr's 04-15-2009 11:13 PM
