To build or not to build
Well I am getting down to the last few things for my turbo kit and well I have a dilemma...Should I use the cast mani I bought or build my own...I have only been welding a short time and have never made a mani before but am planing on doing my charge piping and DP and am confident enough that I won't have any problems with that stuff, I ordered a head and turbo flange planning to eventually make a mani but didn't think about it for this kit untill now, figure if i just make one now then I won't have to change my charge piping and DP later if I do, or should I just practice and put my kit on and have it done with...Since I haven't made any before whats the easiest other than a log, I was thinking short tubular or something similar since it will flow better, well I just want some opinions and maybe some pointers, I have a 14" chop saw, and angle grinder, bench grinder and a Hobart 180 mig welder along with your standard tools so I should have everything needed, let me know your thoughts thanks...Matt

Re: To build or not to build
if ytouve never made a mani, id say the cast mani will probably be just fine.
id rather rock that over a log, and unless you buy or have a bandsaw, you want a sweet collector |
Re: To build or not to build
Yea I figure I'd rather have my car done than hold it up for what will proabably be a shabby mani and just practice till I can make something half way decent

Re: To build or not to build
You can think that way, or "Sometime always has to be your first!"

Re: To build or not to build
My original plan was to put my kit on and then practice making some manis, make it sell it use the money to buy new supplies and start over till i get the hang of it and then make my own, i like my cast mani since it seems to have a god runner design and a good ext wastegate port and i can always fab a mani that puts the turbo in the same possition or adjust everything else as needed who knows
