Whats the material on the inside? If it was Teflon it could work but I think they just use plastic that would probably melt or dissolve.

polymer is a general term for plastics, not specifically which one. I'd doubt they'd use teflon for a cheap drain hose though.

It's like 12 bucks for the hot water heater hose at Menards/home depot. It is also braided, and i believe teflon. Could be rubber, idk, it worked for me.

*edit* they also state on that webpage that they have a polymer core... i wonder how hot it can handle |
Re: Braided Oil return lines for $5 ??... could these work?
Just buy the Aeromotive, it's only like $8 a foot for the 10AN steel braided hose, that's how much I paid at my local shop.

Re: Braided Oil return lines for $5 ??... could these work?
a hose made for boiling water shouldnt have problems handling engine oil
oil in a water cooled engine doesnt get much hotter than water |
Re: Braided Oil return lines for $5 ??... could these work?
I don't remember the last time my hot water came out boiling, but your engines water temp should be right around 180. :P

EDIT: I guess I forgot we're discussing the oil, but I wouldn't think it would be much hotter than the water. |

All in all, the hot water heater hose lasted a long as time, and I'll probably be using it again. |

That hose would work, just have to make sure you can get the right fitting that correspond, that would be the tricky part. Just do your homework and youll be fine. |

i use those products everyday on the job and in no way whould use it for an oil drain. it reduces down to 3/8 and isnt designed or rated for petrolium products which might break it down. id reccomend some 5/8 rubber hose which is wayy cheaper and whould drain better, a couple of polly or pex adapters, and some hose clamps.

I wouldnt trust the nylon hose-end on that thing. Turbos are known to get a little warm

Re: Braided Oil return lines for $5 ??... could these work?
Get one made for a sink, so it'll be 3/8 compresson on one side and 1/2 pipe thread on the other. Get the right fittings and go. Any hardware store will have it. The only problem is that those fuckers are small, and probably wouldn't work too well on an oil drain line.
