Arc Welding aluminum
ok i got a descent arc welder and im descent at arc welding. Im wondering if anyones used this?
http://www.zena.net/htdocs/welders/Rods/Aluminum.shtml Im looking to weld some aluminum chargepipes maybe aluminum intake manifold stuff. Ive usually only welded mild steel exhaust stuff with my arc and fluxcore welder. Not going with prettyness.. just grind it down and powder coating it was what i was thinking. My main question is if anyones used this, how well does it work. Thanks Brian |
Re: Arc Welding aluminum
cool idea, but it looks more like a kit for your 4x4 in case you break down on the trail...

Re: Arc Welding aluminum
Well.. i ordered it from amazon a couple days ago, just cause they had them cheaper. Well it turns out that they refunded my order today so now i have to order it from zena. I talked to the guy and he said those rods specifically say DC polarity, which i have to check cause i have this old Mine Welder (220v 220A) that ive been using for a couple years now given to me for free :), but then i will order again this weekend and then show some results later. Re: Arc Welding aluminum
I have used rods like this before. They work OK on aluminum thats thicker than 1/8" thick. Anything thinner than that and you will have one hell of a time welding without blowing holes through it. :3
