Anyone have pics of mild/stainless manifolds?

I looked around but couldn't really find any. I was hoping to go full stainless, but since Wiertech doesn't do stainless flanges it looks like I'll be stuck with stainless pipe and mild flanges. Anyone got pics fresh and after being used? And is it going to be safe enough to run a manifold like that? Any particular precautions?

i wouldnt do stainless flanges becuase i have heard of then breaking studs out of heads because they expand too much and are too strong

Weir can help me with what? He doesn't do stainless =(. I'll buy the mild flanges fromo him, and the stainless pipe from ace, but I need to make sure the manifold I make isn't going to crack after a few thousand miles.

just do the whole thing out of mild, then you dont even have to worry about cracking because of dissimilar metals

409L is your friend

just about every stainless mani around still has mild flanges.

Mild flanges to stainless pipe is fine. Just use 309L filler on them.

I thought that people used mild flanges because They don't warp as bad a stainless... And because Stainless Pwnz CNC machines...

Re: Anyone have pics of mild/stainless manifolds?

stainless flanges warp when welding like crazy. also if you have ever seen a cnc cutting a stainless flange, it move so slow.... snaping endmills is lame and expensive

i can do stainless, what head is it for?

A20A3... T3 flange. But if what the other guys say is true, I think I'd rather go with mild flanges, as long as it won't crack down the road.

Re: Anyone have pics of mild/stainless manifolds?

if you weld it bolted down to a flat surface and dont weld a lot at a time kinda like welding body panels it will be fine. every name brand manifold is stainless, just cause someone in their garage cant do it right doesnt mean it shouldnt be done

seriously? i welded for a known manifold maker, and i can tell you stainless warps like crazy.

yeah ppl do it but it is pointless and expencive. also like someone stated it can pull out studs or break bolt's. it can happen.

think he was addressing the warping issue with the flange

my stainless mani is warped like crazy. we have to mill the damn thing now.
oh well.

Bolting the flange down while welding won't do ---- if you don't control your welding and heat etc. I've watched plenty of things that were bolted solid spring twisted as ---- after they cooled and were unbolted.

Its an art to weld stainless and not have it warp. I saw a 1/8 stainless sheet that was welded to 3/16 wall 2x3 steel tubing bend the tubing 3 feet in a 15 foot run.
