i havent built one myself YET. as soon as i get my car running right i will though. as far as them having to be dead on. its not rocket science to get them pretty darn close with a tape measure you just have to be smart about the order you bolt and weld things and make sure to duplicate the pieces side to side and dont just eye ball it. i know this is HMT and all but unless you like cars that drive sideways its not the place to guess. im going to just use mild steel. im going to automotive fasteners for some hiem joints and threaded pipe. the rest i plan to make out of scrap i have laying around the shop.

I would make sure that your confident in your ability to weld because if a weld fails. Your tire is going to smash into the back of the fender well and you get the picture. I'd just buy one for piece of mind. They dont cost that much.

^Not only your welds but what heim joints you use and what angles they are at. I had a heim joint snap on a cheap set of traction bars and my tire and fender met, not pretty. I have since bought a used jimfab bar and realized why they demand the price they do. The heim joints and tubing used was twice the size of other "budget" bars. Doing it your self is very doable, Just make it stronger than it needs to be.

I would suggest at LEAST the 5/8 bolt hole 3/4 heims. That way you can use 3/4 radius rods.
