has to be photoshopped, no one can weld that precise, i cant even see where the bead starts or where it ends |
Re: amazing work - prob a repost
Without a doubt some of the finest work I have EVER seen, on anything.. Its truly art, and I would love to have a creation like that riding under my hood.

holy ----. JD is right, its just like sex, but in a different way. kinda like i said the same thing he did, but in a slightly different way.
i wonder what he charges for that type of work. i am tempted to call him about an intake manifold |
Re: amazing work - prob a repost
from John himself
There are 4 root style passes to build up the fillet, then one top weld that I call a cap which is what most people call a weave. The weave is a pattern like this l/l/l/l/l/l/l/l and drop rod in at the top and the bottom. I weld sheet metal manifolds everyday with a Miller Dynasty 200 DX. It's an inverter type machine, it does not use high fequency, it has a hertz adjustment instead. It's capable of 250 hertz, where as the sincrowaves are only 60 hertz. This adjustability is very important for controling the arc. This model also will plug into 120/220 and three phase, it does this with adaptor cords ( it knows what it is being plugged into). This is one of my favorite features on this model. It makes a perfect choice for a guy in his garage. I have about $3000 in power supply, water cooler, foot petal, and regulator. I love this welder. I also mix my own gas helium/argon, this is important for heaver gage aluminum and aids in controlability. If money isn't the concern then you should go with Miller Aerowave or the new style Dynasty. The 300-700 amp Dynasty and Aerowave have a duel amplitude control, which allows you to control the postive and negative side amprage of the wave seperately. This allows for total manipulation and control of the arc. But these units are big bucks and will make the novice welder want to pull his ------- hair out. I have alot of people ask me my oppinion on welders, I tell them the only welders worth buying is a Miller invertor style machine. Because they make sincrowaves look like a piece of ----.
