90amp welder capable of making manifolds?
i just figured out that the manifold i had made for me isnt up to par with what i plan to do(and i know this because its cracked when my friend used it). i was wondering if its possible to make a manifold myself using a 90amp stick or mig welder, or if anybody heres attempted to make one using that kinda welder.

Ya the pressure inside is something you have to worry about. :1

Should be fine...Im still having burn through problems on my 90amp flux core HF wonder machine (I keep tilting the stick as I round the pipe and lengthen the arc....blowing throught the pipe :1)
I dont prep a whole lot, just wire brush....it gets good penetration

i should add that im probably using schedule 40 piping. its just that my first manifold only saw a portion of the PSI that i was planning on running(about 7PSI) before it cracked, and its not exactly what i want to happen on the first run i do at the track

Re: 90amp welder capable of making manifolds?
It's MORE than enough amperage. The question is how is the fine amperage control? If it's only got a high / low switch. Then hell no. Don't waste the money on materials. It'll burn through the metal insessantly.
If it has finer control. Then yeah, you can do it.
Really... For 90% of the welding required to build an exhaust. You'd only need around 40-45amps. Low on the harbor freight ones is about 60amps.

as for this whole thread being started up, the welder i had in mind should have more then just a typical high/low setting. the one i was looking at might have just a high low setting/ but there is one with a variable setting which is just a 70amp welder. is 70amp sufficient for welding manifolds?
