My work area, I complain about it at times but really I shouldn't haha. Its insulated but not heated. On the -35 days I just stay inside. My parents let me use the garage in the winter time when the car is apart so its all good. go get some 110v arvin milkhouse heaters, and put new fans on the backside, cutting out the grates front and rear. |

wtf are you talking about. I'm clean, don't have herpes, dont have sex with banana titty chicks, and don't ---- people over.

the heater theyre 1500w = around 2500 btu's, but it needs air to move it. |
Re: log manifold fabrication progress *update 1*
Both 15000btu HF heaters are on sale for sub $50 right now. got my uncle one since he get's free lp

Re: log manifold fabrication progress *update 1*
why put something flamable by any heater? not everyone is a ------- moron.
15,000 will actually heat a large room or two medium sized rooms. a 2500btu hot plate is what the hippies use to heat their electric conversions. i remember growing up those 1500w heaters with electric motors in them as a kid and they couldn't heat a big heated room in weak alabama winters. only warm it up from a niple poking 60F to maybe 70F, even then they'd have to run constantly. So how is one gunna deal with a garage in a cold -35??? it won't, ever. you'd never heat an unheated room with it. it aint even that cold here in the winter( 20's-30's for a couple of months) but i make my money in a family biz of developing land & new home construction. we have to use the larger turbine kerosene heaters b/c little ---- like that only wastes generator power while creating a warm spot a couple of feet in diameter. completely useless they can't heat a small room on their own. thanks for trying tho c0mpl3x |

Ok got some work done.
Got my 6.0l manifolds. Cut the stock flange off, cut and ground smooth casting lines, numbers, etc. Cleans them up a bunch. Got them mounted and mocked some piping up. Waiting on Turbo and money for more piping. Sorry for the camera phone pics. What the manifolds started out as. You can see the mostly finished product in the pics. Attachment 21119 Drivers side. Hot side will go down under harmonic balancer then back up. Attachment 21120 Front shot. Attachment 21121 Passenger side. Essentially where the turbo is going to sit. Attachment 21122 Passenger side again. Attachment 21123 And what the manifolds look like cleaned up. They will get blasted then coated. Attachment 21124 bevel ready for my buddy. Attachment 21125 |
Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*

Anyways got my fuel rail spacers made lol. Just some 1/2" ms tube cut and filed to 1/2" long. |
Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
I would have left the flanges on and bolts on to the manifold. Cast like to crack when welded. :'(

Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
Ooh im liking this project O0 Any more info on the setup?
|
Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
just because you have heard of cast cracking when welded doesnt mean they did it correctly. there is a way of correctly welding pretty much every metal.

Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
that and what affects the hardness of metal is the carbon content and cast iron has a lot and by heating it up while welding makes the metal very hard and hardness=brittle and just cracks when it is heated up becuase some expands a lot less then the other part of the same piece of metal.

Normally I don't like new looking wheels on old muscle cars but the Z06 wheels look bad-ass.
|
Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
The headers will be fine, especially if you bevel the welded edges like you're doing, then fill the bevel in with weld. That's how I did my cast pipe fitting log.

This is why I cut the flanges off the manifolds. It allows for a much cleaner and easier way for routing the hot side.

Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
how the hell does that car get the air into the TB with all the hot parts mounted that damn high? and why is the hot side mounted so high up and not down by the crank?

Also, there is nothing wrong with where the turbo is mounted. It's surprising he even got it to sit where it is. It's a 6.0L monster not a 1.8L rubber band motor. You've never heard of a top mount set-up I take it? Look at the size of the turbo, do you really think it could sit any lower? I think his build is excellent and very well planned and executed. I'm sure it's far better than anything you're bench racing ass has ever done. Go race some Kia's with your 90whp shitbox dumb nig ger fa ggot. |

manifolds are done. Thanks Chris!!!!

He wanted to retain the battery in the front passenger headlight area where I don't care and its going in the trunk. thanks :) |
Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
looking at that pic of the completed setup i was wondering about those flex pipes. every flex pipe i ever have always leaks, do they make one that can hole 30+psi?

Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 2*
Damn bro car looks sick :o. Thats is the same motor as the gmc yukon. I remember seeing a turbo kit for those car, at 5psi they hit a little over 400hp and that with the all time 4wheel drive trans. Can't wait to see what it puts down.

Got the intercooler hanging now. I will clean up the mounts, and get them coated with everything else when the time comes. Brackets were super simple. Chopped down 1" aluminum angle. Counter sunk allen head bolts.
Attachment 20299 Quick shot of the mounts. Very sturdy. Attachment 20300 Straight on with the grill in. Attachment 20301 From the side. Camera flash, without flash its barely visable but I am going to paint the intercooler semi gloss black. Attachment 20302 |
Re: truck manifold single t76 *update 3 intercooler in*
I'm jealous! The car look so great! I always wanted to have one muscle car... But I cant have 2 cars and it cost to much for gas if I only have 1 ...

Its easier and sounds more baller to say its from an escalade then to say. Its from a 2003 Chev 2500HD pickup truck. |
