theres been a few how-to's on 3-1 and 4-1 collectors, but does anyone have a how-to on making a 6-1 collector or instrctions/pics on making one? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: 6-1 collectors?
BMC race made a thread thats probably still on this page about a rb26
check that out your never gonna find a diy, that 6-1 and any 6-1 for that matter is custom and will never be jigged I doubt But for reference im sure itd help |
Re: 6-1 collectors?
I know there was a post on HT's fab section containing a link to a volvo page where a guy built his own manifold and used solidworks to design the collector.
The link was in the first post too. If i find it I'll post it up. |
Re: 6-1 collectors?
Just gotta figure out the cuts. Just mess around with some stuff like drinking straws or dowels.

Re: 6-1 collectors?
ya it shouldnt be bad just practice using some thing else maybe draw it out before...iv also seen 6-3-1 instead of making one huge collector make two collectors exactly the same and then cut them so they both can fit togeather that might help

Re: 6-1 collectors?
Also depends on how made-rare you wanna make it.
You can do two 3-1s and then just stack em. 6-1 all in a conical shape would be tougher. |
Re: 6-1 collectors?
You make it the same damned way, you just cut out 60* per pipe, per end meeting instead of 90*. Jesus christ learn some ------- math kid. 360* in a circle / 6.
Apart from that. Unless there are serious space issues, you shouldn't make a collector with more than 4 ports. You should run a pair of 3-1 collectors. (And yes. That would be 360/3.) Turbulance, and velocity loss becomes high above 4 ports. I'm sorry, but god damned kids today are ------- retarded... |

Exactly, geometry pwnz them. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...6311#msg816311 |
Re: 6-1 collectors?
but is a t3 port a circle? nope.

Re: 6-1 collectors?
Ultimately the only thing which will define your collector will be the packaging requirements. 6-3 3-2 2-1 would make for a nice shallow merge, but that don't mean ---- if you can't get it to fit.

Not sure how well this works with 6-1 but for a 4-1 you just make a circle and weld just two halves. A large belt sander will take care of the rest. Here's what I mean. Attachment 31366 Attachment 31367 Attachment 31368 Attachment 31369 I cant see why this wouldn't work on a 6-1.. would be more work though. |
