zdyne tuning w/venom 660's
 
Has anyone tuned pretty big venom injectors and have you had any luck? I got venom 660cc injectors and I have to richen up the idle portion even when loading a map for 450 injectors. It should be rich as hell and I should have to lean it out. Everywhere else fuel curve is rich. I don't understand this. I can get my car to idle pretty good at 850rpm. I can't get the pullout portion of the fuel curve smooth. Please share any experiences with tuning big injectors. I've got a d16a6,walbro 255lph,aem fpr @50psi w/vac hose connected at idle. Boost is fine, just having problems tuning pullout and some cruising situations. sometime afr is erratic

Big injectors sometimes have very heavy pintles...in the idle area you will have to lengthen the injector pulsewidth to get good AFRs.

Just use a good wideband and make changes until you see what you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply xenocron. I've got it idling at between 14.5 - 15.2 afr usally on my LM-1. Sometimes its alittle leaner or richer. Tuning this thing is a big pain in the ass. Its not always consistent. I wish I could have used the injector recalibrator. Does anyone else have any experiences? What is your target afr while cruising and does your afr seem to differ at times even at the same rpm and vac readings?

ive never used ZDYNE personally...but yes I do notice that sometimes with TE.

i shoot for a 14.7-15.5 afr at idle and 14.7 - 15 in light throttle/cruising situations

I ALSO HAVE HAD A BITCH OF A TIME FINDING ANYBODY TO HELP TUNE THIS ZDYNE UNIT.I'M VERY NEW TO THIS TYPE OF TUNNING AND WOULD LOVE TO KNOW MORE.

Abaz is pretty familiar with ZDYNE from what I know.

If you are in my area, I would be more than happy to help you tune with ZDYNE if you have it. Cant be much different than TE from what I have seen.

Its kinda irratic sometimes. Maybe its not the zdyne though. Sometimes idle gets very lean, like 19:1 afr, and then goes back to normal. Also when starting the car cold it runs extremely rich for a while, like 9 or 10:1 afr. Idle speed does not bump up either when cold. I've also got some lean spots when cruising. Its hard to pick them out and adjust. I wish the vacuum and rpm would go up by 1" hg, and 100 rpm increments. Sometimes I don't know what points to pick since it goes up by a couple hundred rpm or a couple in. hg. Other than that my tune is pretty good.

I'M LOCATED IN SYR[img][/img]ACUSE NEW YORK.WHRE ARE YOU?I HAVE A d16a6 '88 si vintage.i just bought another engine with eagle rods and srp pistons.it has a jrsc with 10psi.str 65mm throttle body,moroso billet pan,dc sports ceramic header.ihave a L3ZC tranny with stage 4 driveshaft shop axles.and 450cc injectors with the z-dyne gold secu.i'm very new to this type of tunning.any help would be awesome.i jumped the gun and put this all on at once without a baseline to go by.i just dont have the knowledge yet to figure out whats going on.the car runs ok,but is lacking in the power department.anybody in the northeast willing to help?

hey dice, do you have a wideband? What problems do you have? I may be able to give you some advice. I was able to tune my car very well 450 cc injectors. I just ran into some small problems when i put in the venom 660's. There are also some tunes with jrsc on the binhacker software to start with.
