Zdyne: Gold vrs Silver

I plan on starting to piece togeather a custom turbo set up as soon as I get my ZC installed. The one thing that I still am a little un sure about is what to do about fuel management. I know that I want to run something good as this is a daily driver and needs to be very reliable. As of right now I am leaning twords Zdyne as it seems to be on par with the best of them. My turbo set up is going to use a t-25 and will never see boost over 10psi. My question is should I just go with the Zdyne silver with a basic FI tune and save 500 bills or is it really worth being able to create your own fuel maps and stuff for such a mild turbo set up?

Why not save ALL of your money and use TurboEdit? ???

I don't even know how it works which to me seems like a pretty good indicator that I shouldnt. For some reason I have a very hard time understading things like that. For example how do you take the progams you make on the ECU and get them into your computer?

if you're going to pay $500-$1000 for zdyne just because you don't know how turboedit works (or aren't willing to learn) then ----, go ahead and get the gold. ::)

Oh I am willing to learn, its just that I have a very hard time understanding things like that and would rather not have to deal with the reliablity issues that could be created due to my incompitence.

lol, at least your honest. ;)

You should read up on it. It's not any harder than Zdyne and it's 100% cheaper. Checkout the sticky posts in the "engine management" section.

I did a little reading on ghettodyne.com and I geuss that at least I now understand phiscaly how the whole process works(buring chips, ect...). The part that is gonna be most trickey for me is learing how to create a tune that would work for my set-up. Is it a lot easier then I might think(not using the program, but rather creating a good tune), and/or is there a good amount of premade tunes available online(the set up I want to run seems pretty common) that would work even pretty well untill I could be able to do it myself. Thanks for your help

Ya... creating tunes in Zdyne is no different than creating tunes in TurboEDIT. OBD0 general conversion formulas use the name numeric (milliseconds for pulse duration, and degrees BTDC for ignition).

As for "available tunes". Well, there is a Zdyne -> TurboEDIT conversion utility floating around somewhere. Import one of those premade tunes if you don't understand how to create your own. That should get you started..

Hehe, dont feel bad... I spent the big bucks on the gold and am pretty happy with it. Now with all these rom editors out, you really may want to look into it. It is kinda confusing when they are talking about the x2394983579374983 chip and the x4908309809 chips blah blah, But it may save you some bucks! ;)

Well I supose I could look at it this way. If all goes as planned I will be attending either RPI or WPI next year and I'm sure one of the electronics engineers their can figure it out. Plus then I wouldnt even have to buy a chip burner and stuff. Now if only I can contain my craving for boost till then. ;D
