Re:ZC Turbo Fuel Management Problem(s)
Detonation is a short term worry. Washing your cylinders with fuel due to rich mixture off boost, and scarring bores, is a long term one.
If it runs lean, as you say it does, you are doing one of three things: detonating, high freq detonating (inaudible), or running so lean the AF isn't igniting. 10 psi on a high mileage ZC, running pig rich 10.5:1 AFR and conservative 1 deg/psi retard, is enough to pull stock LS1 Z28/SS/WS6 on the highway in a heavy 91 Civic Si w/ speaker box + such. Go find one of the ubiquitous F-bodies and see how you fare, I guarantee it doesn't work out the way it should, Stock injectors, at 55 psig base pressure, won't support the power level. |
Re:ZC Turbo Fuel Management Problem(s)
Man reading how this thread has went on. I have Talked to JD SOOOOOO Many times about my ZC problems at 10psi and I wasnt running stock injectors. At 10 psi on a stock crx DX fuel pump and all the fuel I could dump in that motor I still ran out of fuel at 3,000 rpm. I redid it all except the FP. I am not trying to bach. But I dont care how well a motor is built if you detonate your gonna kill it. I was lucky cause i could drive it right to lean and back off. But man. Reread this thread and listen.
Side note Hey JD that waht i tried to tell a friend running a zdyne silver computer for a z6 when vtec kicked in and it would dump gas. n/a of course. Now he has a toasted A6 lol people should listen. Glad to see alot of posts again JD I am now in the obd1 crowd 92 hb b18b ;) |
