wtf is a Q31 on a OBD1 ECU?

yeah i got this ECU, smelled a lot like burnt electrical....guess what? the item in Q31 on the board (1720/P06-A51) is melted... wtf is Q31 and its purpose in life? if important is there a replacement?

btw i tested the ECU on my HMT-ECU tester and it does blink (the LED sucks and i will probly go blind if i try to count them)...so its not a solid CEL...

q31 is a transistor for the purge evap solenoid, it's not important, and yeah, it's pretty common that they burn up. i've had a couple myself that were burn, and someone else made a thread a few weeks ago about one also. from what i understand, it's usually from someone switching the iat plug with teh purge evap solenoid plug and trying to start the car. either way, it runs fine without it and no cel.

i don't see why it would matter if you removed it, since it's trashed anyways. if you have any junk ecu's laying around, you can replace it with one from another ecu, i believe it's a d1780

Are you sure its for the evap? For some reason I had it stuck in my head that it was O2 heater related.
