would these work for programming eprom chips for hondas?

http://electronics-diy.com/avr_programmer.php

if so than it could possibly be the cheapest thing ever!

if not, i havent really figured much of it out yet nor do i know a whole bunch about burning chips for ecu's, but i just ran across this, apparently type of programming? anyways its called arduino but ive been able to find a couple cheap diy type burners for "28 pin amtel isp devices"

heres another one a little more to it but still only less than half the cost of others if it will work

please any input is appreciated

ok, try this link, but then you have to click on "bootloader burner fixtures" and it whould take you to my originally linked page

The first is an Atmel AVR programmer. AVRs are cheap decently powerful microcontrollers that can be reprogrammed, popular among hobbyists. They have nothing to do with 27SF/27C/29C compatible memory.

The second is a universal hobbyist/student/project board built around the ATmega168 microcontroller. The board gives you a bunch of simple digital and analog inputs/outputs, the website you linked to provides programming and circuit design tutorials for interfacing the Arduino boards into anything you can think of doing with them. Again, not 28 pin 27SF/27C/29C compatible memory.

Just log onto Mouser and buy some 27SF512s, and be done with it.

<--- built with an AVR Atmega16 and an Atmega8 as an USB controler.

It could be a good choice if you want to build a cheap simple EMS, but I don't think its what you want to do ;)

Maybe its not for your application, but if you want something simple that worth the money, buy an Ostrish. Mine is 365 day/year in my car and it works like a charm. You have less manipulations to do, so less chances of broken parts in your ECU or your programmer.

It's just my opinion for an alternative solution.

yeah, untill it was recently explained to me i thought the ostrich did something a bit different than it actually does, so yes i think that will be the way im going to go. thank you all for the help!
