Willem software not working with Windows XP? nerds chime in
 

I have a willem eprom burner, the serial + USB version, i think its a the pcb4 or something, I lost the CD that it came with and I downloaded the latest sofware for it ( and it wont work. a window pops up and It keeps telling me " Could not open the DriverLINX driver " I click ok and i get another window with this message " Action violation at adress 00000000. read of adress 00000000"

I dont know what to do

im using Win XP HE, It used to have it working of a cd I had the program on.

go to the willems sit they should have the software there.what version of willems are u useing?

I've never had any issues back in the day when I used a Willem with XP. Try getting any software updates and checking settings. Settings can be a bitch on the Willems

word i run a willem on my xp lappy. works fine. try uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling it again. or try a slightly older version, like 1 less than the newest. make sure it supports your board.

Never had issues with the Willem on Win98 or XP. Always had issues burning SST chips vs Amtels.

hey guys thanks for the help, I figured it out. I just kept downloading a different version untill it worked. Apparently for some reason only version (0.97j) willl work with my computer?

heres a good write up on how to erase the SST27SF512 chip, it was a pain in the ass for me to figure this ---- out for a while.

haha why do ppl have trouble with sst 512s?? just pick the chip in the settings and set the hex offset :-*
i burn sst 512's all day long no prob

You do realize there are different versions of the Willem burner, right? I bought mine like 3 years ago. It has the jumpers in completely different locations than what most writeups say and overall just seems to hate SST chips. Any time I get a SST chip it is a 50/50 chance it will erase and write properly.

Mine was a pain in the ass to setup and get jumpers right, get the settings right for the chips, etc, but finally got it.

All you had to do was download the drivers it was talking about, google would tell you where to get them.
