will datalogging work with homemade widebands

http://www.aces.edu/~gparmer/efi/temp/wb/guide.html

this is the one i was thinking about since i can get a vx sensor for cheap

As long as it has a linear 0-5v voltage output, yes.

Xenocron I disagree!

The DIY-WB is a non-linear Wideband. I used it for 2 years and Last Season I was able to log it sucessfully within .02AFRs I would say.

It is not easy, It takes some knowledge in Excel and you cannot read the output right from ECUControl or Turboedit (Those are the program I ran).

What one has to do is input the Voltage to AFR into Excel, determine the equation to the highest degree, Then convert the AFR that ECUControl give (easy as it's linear) then using excel, plug the voltages into the equation and BANG, Non-Linear Wideband datalogging. Only took about 10sec longer for me to do compared to using a linear as I wrote macros and just applies them to the Cells.

I could go into more detail, BUT It took me HOURS to fiqure out, so only if one REALLY want to know, then I'll post pics and how-to! But most WBo2 are linear now!

I did say IF it has a linear output...

I didnt say that it DID have one ;)

could i call upon some more help from you bumble, While i am an engineering student and can do some crazy math, i dont know ---- about excel. I hate to be "spoon fed" but do you think you can hook it up. I can get a good deal on a vx sensor.

Wait.. so if the controller doesnt have a liniar 0-5v output voltage, you cant use the datalogging feature in uberdata/crome? How else would you do it? you would have to log your rpms as well for any real tuning correct? I dont really have the cash for a wideband right now but if this works it seems like it would be pretty cheap. The version in the link does not have an liniar output right?

Well you log it just like a Linear, Save you Log to Excel, Then convert just the Linear AFRs to Non-Linear.

I'm at work so I can't go into details now, I'll get back to you on this one.

That will be some interesting information to know.

Got home to do this the other day and realized I lacked Excel on my Recently Re-Formated computer. Waiting for my fiance to come home from school to get the install CD fom her.

Re: will datalogging work with homemade widebands

thanks again. I think ill just buy the sensor and hope i can get it to work. I wont actually be datalogging through uberdata right? It will be on an excel file instead? Wouldnt that require logging rpm and map sensor values as well? Im lost on the whole datalogging thing
