Wideband questions
 

Hi,
I did a search, but didn't really find what i'm looking for. I want to install a wideband o2 sensor, but didn't realize they were so expensive. What is the least expensive o2 sensor you guys have found? does "least expensive" mean it sucks, or is there really a difference between wb sensors? Do they really become less acurate over time, and if so, what is their approximate lifespan?

Lastly, I was thinking about building my own homemade air/fuel meter... I could save $30-$40, but are the widely available blueprints for ghetto air/fuel meters realiable enough to tune by? Or is it worth the extra money to just buy the "pretty" gauge?

Your best bet is to go with one of 3 "cheaper" units, and based on features you need, pick between them.

As for being less accurate over time, depends on the sensor. The LM1 is a better sensor than the LSU4 because after an hour or so of beating on it, it gets really hot and less accurate. All you have to do is wait for it to cool down. Then have back at it.

The Bosch LSU4 is only about $60, where as the LM1 is about $160. (Some of the kits mentioned above come with the sensor.

So on that link PLX they have a product called M series, it hooks to a Auto Meter A/F gauge, and they claim it turns it in to a wideband is that true? anyone every try this?

With thier converting device it displays wideband information on the Autometer. nothing more. You still need the WB O2 kit.

Should you choose the LM1 or the PLX, Ive heard that ForcedAir is a good person to order from. ::)

Hah, no really, I've spoken with Jayson for quite some time on the phone and he seems to be a cool cat. I ordered my PLX Tuesday, and it'll be here Friday. He's on the ball! He's got lots of good info to share just ask. ...oh, and when you do ask, make sure you already own the car. LOL@Jayson!

Got my PLX from forced air yesterday, had it up and running 2hrs later ;D, then stayed up till around 3am tuning.
I dont know how I made it this far without one, Im in love.
