Default Wideband O2 Sensor

I know that newer VW's use a Bosch wideband. Has anybody ever used one. I was thinking of it but not sure how to hook one up and make it read in a Wideband Mode not Narrow. Is it possible to Just Datalog with my laptop with the more acurate reading or do I have to buy a special controlling unit?

Why,. These sensor are 30-40 buck not 400-1000 dollars.
