Wideband doesn't work!!!

I recently bought a wideband from a freind and it doesn't work. It is brand new and never has been used I was there when he ordered it. I hooked it up threw the ignition and when I turn the key on nothing happens. So, I hooked it straight to the battery and still nothing. I am sure I am hooking it up right because there is a positive and negetive and a connector that goes to the sensor. There are two other wires, gray and a white but they are just wideband and narrowband outputs. The wideband is a PLX M-250. Any Idea's what could be wrong?

the m-250 doesn't have a display does it? if not, how do you know it's not working, is there a power led or something (i've personally never seen an m-250)? have you taken the case apart and looked for any burnt components or bad connections or anything? if it's brand new, i'd try to contact plx, i've heard they have pretty good customer support (unlike me :P ).

I assume the sensor is plugging into the wideband controller (you should have two different peices, an oxygen sensor, and a black box, the controller).

If the sensor is plugged in, and you give power to positive and negitive, and the display still doesn't come on, put a volt meter on the outputs, and see if they're giving you anytrhing. IF they are, then the LCD is broken. If not,t he controller is broken, which is probably why he sold it to you. :P

I think you are right, there is a side that looks like a display but, I don't think it is. So then how to I get a display? Do I have to hook it up to a laptop?

yeah, as far as i know, the m-250 has a display, but it's not actually functional, in which case, yeah, you have to log through a wideband, or get the wideband a/f display add on from plxdevices.com http://plxdevices.com/2InchGauges.htm or this thing that converts your auto meter a/f gauge (if you have one) to read wideband, i believe it's only 30 bucks as opposed to 150 for the plx gauge http://plxdevices.com/NB_WB_GaugeConv.htm

Thanks a lot I feel really stupid now :P. How do I go about hooking it up to dataloging? I will be using turbo edit.

get a datalogging cable from www.------------- for 27 bucks and you're good to go, then you won't need either one of those silly gauges i posted either.

Yes, and to datalog with TurboEdit, you will need to use ECU Control.

Damn, its a wonder how anyone figures this ---- out... :P
