Why can't I get this fucking burner to work?
 

This is getting VERY old. I'm ready to just throw my entire ------- computer in the trash and never think about this ---- ever again.

Ok, I order a Willem burner after I couldn't get the BURN1 to work for me. ::)

I get it today and insert the floppy into my computer. I read the lame ass instructions and follow everything as close as I can. I download the drivers and ---- and proceed with the instructions.

My problem is when I try to extract the files it says I cannot extract them because "The media is write protected". WTF? I payed for this ---- and I can't use it?

I try and try and try to open this ---- in any possible folder I can, and everytime I think it might actually be working, this ------- thing pops up and says there was an error and it needs to shut down.

Oh my god, I am not a patient person and this is pissing me off far beyond the point of being reasonable.

you should have called craig about the BURN1, there was problems with the firmware and it needed updated. I did that to mine, and it works each and everytime.

Yeah, I talked to Craig, but he couldn't tell me for sure if it would fix my problems and I didn't want to be shipping that damn burner back and forth 15 times just to find out it still didn't work.

This really pisses me off. Why do computers hate me? I just want to burn some ------- chips. Is that so wrong? :'(

I found a link to the software, I downloaded it, but now I can't do a ------- thing with it. It says "Privileged instruction" anytime I try to do something and I can't even close the ---- without hitting "ctrl Alt Del" >:(

Williem and my rom's make long sweet passionate binary love to one another. it's beautiful. and i have a p4 2.5ghz puter running xp sp1 and have had no issues; this is an awesome burner; i had an epromer-5 but it was a hunk of ---- and cost 2x more :mad:

find williem's site; download the software; extract and use....

I assume that the software they send with the unit should work fine with it. Am I wrong for assuming this? If I am, then I am not the only retarded one because they shouldn't be sending some bullshit floppy disk that doesn't work properly.

Anyways, after opening the ---- up about 348 times and banging on my computer violently, it started working. :o It's a ------- miracle. I successfully burned 2 chips with no problems. :o I have no idea what happened, but it works and I'm not going to touch it until I'm done with it forever.

I can't wait to try to get this to work on my laptop. ::)

Hmmmm...I have no clue what could have been wrong. I don't know why it would just start working like that. I know it was nothing I did. :-\ Maybe it just needed to settle in? ??? ---- I don't know...

Floppy disks have a little sliding tab that moves from the locked to the unlocked position...used to protect the media from being over written.

Every once in a Blue Moon i get an address error on my Xtronics Pocket Programmer. Generally it happens when I start the software up and had forgotten to plug the burner into my computer.

I think the software looks for the burner at a specific spot where it found it last time. It might have just had to guess a few times and finally guessed correctly.

there is a known issue when trying to use the willem software version 0.97ja with windows xp, causing it to give the privledged error. download the 0.97G version and it will work properly for you. if you are extracting it for installation, it would be much easier and faster to just extract it to your hard drive and install from there. heres a link to the version that should work correctly for you:

Well, that link did for me to, but it wouldn't let me do anything without that error bullshit. The guy above you explained why I was having problems. It's not solely because I'm a retard. :P

I'm not going to ---- with it anymore. It works and that's all I care about. :)

Hmmm, I'm not familiar with the Willam burner but I'd have to say they are no good Doc. No big deal though, just repeat that step and you'll be good to go for sure.

with the 27* series you need a special infrared light of somesort to erase them.. go with the 29c256 and its erasable via software

Haha, thats all I use is 27's. I have the UV eraser so it's more efficient to me to buy a ton of the cheap eproms than the more expensive 29's. So Doc, if your ever looking to get rid of those "no good" 27's, I'll take em'. :D

So, when the values are all fucked up like this will the chip burn correctly or will it be all fucked up? I'm guessing fucked up? How do I fix that? Open a non-fucked up .bin?

Also, when these new versions come out(NG28, NG30...)the ---- that changs is ---- I can't see, correct? The values all stay the same and don't mean ----, but the "code" that I can't see changes? Does that make sense? Like, the updates are internal and you can't actual see the update? Does that make sense? I hope it does. :-\

Nothing is fucked up when those values look weird. TurboEdit just doenst understand how to interpret what those values really are so it displays gobble-de-gook...but the code and the proper functionality are there.

DO NOT IMPORT ----...using these or you will screw things up. Use copy/paste until things get fixed and TE displays nicely again.

If you are trying to use my basemap helper. Go back to old code (NG26 or NG28), do the basemap helper...then open the new code (NG48) and copy/paste the fuel and ignition maps in. And then play...

Far from it...TE imports other "backend" pieces that are important, or in other words can screw ---- up fast :)

Copy/Pasting ONLY changes the fuel/ignition tables

So am i the only one not using a willem enchanced? mine does not have that button or that back row of LED lights.. afaik i have it set right now.. chip is on back side with arrow pointing toward the lever, i have a wire between (what i hope are) pins 3 & 31, and i have the dip switches set.. does that sound right to everyone?
