White spark plugs

Few questions:

1.: Today i went for a run and checked my spark plugs. I might run lean, because my plugs were white. But i didn't hear any knocking and car run smooth (1.6VTi, T3/T4B, 7psi, 390cc DSM inj, SMC500). Or can it be white because i decreased speed without tapping accelerator pedal and this case no fuel was added?

2.: Though i get CEL code 1 and 41. 41 is for lean/rich i guess.

3.: Other important thing, i tried to change my timing on distributor (4 degrees back) ,but ECU changed it when i started my engine (OBD2). Is it possible to keep it set 10BTDC? (My car is set 14BTDC OEM).

4.: I downloaded Uberdata, want to chip my ECU later, but noone has basemap for my european 1.6VTi in Hungary. And no dyno available here in Hungary at all :( Where to get '99 1.6VTi (B16A2) basemap in .bin? Someone has any?

Thank You,

Peter

Sounds like it's running lean to me also. Do you notice your engine burning coolant? Could be that also. But in any case your best bet if your planning on uberdata would be to leave timing at the stock setting and start off with a p28 basemap.

when you change timing at distributor, jump the service connector in the passenger side kick panel before starting the car. i don't know that this works from experience, but that is what i've been told. when i was running the hack i left the timming stock and just ran a btm to retard during boost. worked great.

your plugs look that way since you coasted to a stop with the engine running instead of turning off the engine as soon as you made the wot pull and coast with engine not running. the car will naturally run lean idling and coasting making your plugs appear to have been lean.

the cel could be because you are running rich in boost...richer than 14.7, hopefully.

Coolant was not burnt (or at least no noticable quantity).

jump the service connector in the passenger side kick panel before starting the car

What is this service connector? Somewhere on ECU? Or you mean the one i short when reading ECU?

I want to use this AFC hack for a couple of month only, until i get all necessary parts for burning and want to read a bit more about burning as i'm afraid i could harm more with a badly burnt chip as using AFC. But somehow need to retard a few degress by then.

Stopping just after boosting in order to reading spark plugs could harm the turbo (hot oil), isn't it?

Re:White spark plugs

Harm the turbo by shutting down the oil pressure to the turbo when its at high rpm. Not a good idea.
