when i chip my ecu do use a 74hc373 chip or an ic socket because i bouhgt a chip not a ic socket. thanks

You do not have to use a socket. Actually it helps not to use a socket so the arm for the zif socket has room to move. The only reason I can think of to use a socket on that chip is if you are scared of overheating the chip (inexperienced at soldering).
