what stand alone is the best...

i am currently in the process of turbocharging my 85 toyota celica. I need some sort of engine management and have decided to spend the money and get a stand alone. There are so many like motec, sds efi, haltech, perfect power, autronic, and electromotive, I don't know what one to get. Has anyone had any experiences on any of these products or could give me some insight into choosing a stand alone engine management system.

thanks

James

All of them work, some work really well. If you're not pushing any crazy new frontiers in power or boost, just about all of them work really well.

You can find real deals on older DFI units, just make sure they are guaranteed complete with all software and cables, because DFI refuses to support the older models; they want people to upgrade. I've also seen the occaisional Haltech or TEC-II go for a good price.

If you are looking to buy new, you might check out www.sds-efi.com. Good product, you do not need a laptop, and their tech support is the greatest in the world.

I have been using the sds eic 2 injector kit for the past 8 months now and haven't had a problem with it yet. I would recommed it to everyone. The two injector kit is $500 and can support up to 160hp, depending on your fuel pressure. You maintain your stock ecu, the sds just kicks one when you want, typically you'll set it for when the engine sees boost.

The tech support seriously is unbelieveable. I sent an email asking for a suggestion with something and they got back to me within 24 hours.
