what soldering iron for ecu socketing

So I'm gonna be socketing my ecu this weekend and was wondering if I should use a small 15w soldering iron or a 30w that will transfer more heat faster?

I will be attatching a heatsink to each leg of the socket as I solder it in to try and keep heat away from the rest of the components. I'm just really worried about frying my ecu from too much heat.

Thanks alot

Go find a junker VCR or something and desolder the whole board and solder junk to it. That will give you some practice.

well it's not the practice and experience i don't have, i was just wondering personal opinions of which would be better. I'm doing it at work tonite w/ a 15 watt though I guess. I hope i don't fry it, doubt it

I use a 30watt Craftsman piece of crap. Just dab it on a wet spunge if you are getting too hot.
