what soldering iron for ecu socketing
So I'm gonna be socketing my ecu this weekend and was wondering if I should use a small 15w soldering iron or a 30w that will transfer more heat faster?
I will be attatching a heatsink to each leg of the socket as I solder it in to try and keep heat away from the rest of the components. I'm just really worried about frying my ecu from too much heat. Thanks alot |
Re: what soldering iron for ecu socketing
Go find a junker VCR or something and desolder the whole board and solder junk to it. That will give you some practice.

Re: what soldering iron for ecu socketing
well it's not the practice and experience i don't have, i was just wondering personal opinions of which would be better. I'm doing it at work tonite w/ a 15 watt though I guess. I hope i don't fry it, doubt it

Re: what soldering iron for ecu socketing
I use a 30watt Craftsman piece of crap. Just dab it on a wet spunge if you are getting too hot.
