I also attended the EFI101 class. IMHO, it is great for a total beginner, but if your already have a solid idea of what is going on, there really isnt much 'new' stuff to learn from it. The class seemed mostly about methods and the approach that should be taken when tuning a setup.
I recently got this book from amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846
I also got the book written by Ben Strader, who teaches the EFI101 class. Ive read through both of them a few times already, and the book in the above link is very good. Much more thorough than Bens book. It is easy to understand, and covers both the basic ideas and the technical tidbits. It has sections that apply to many specific aftermarket systems and their features. Also of great interest, is detailed build ups of various engines/setups (all of them boosted) and the various tuning decisions that went into each. The author even shows the fuel/ign maps of each setup.
I would deff. recommend this book to the average low $$$ HMT DIY'er over attending EFI101.

Oh and regarding the Romulator or any EEPROM emulator, if you plan on playing around with your car alot, its deff. worth the money. If I didnt already have a Romulator, Id be all over the Osterich. Pretty cool to see Moates teaming up w/ Uber and putting out a great time saving tool.
