What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
I know jason knows this one, what type of resistor or whatever do you put on the IACV circuit if you want to delete it without having a check light? I remember you talking about this awhile back, my itb setup is together, and it looks a little tacky zip tied to the firewall, lol.

RadioShack.. 10w 10ohm.. Part Number #271-0132 should work fine. 8)

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
So connect both wires together with a resistor in bewteen right? and it wont get a check engine light? wont the ecu freak out if it cant adjust the idle air control valve? Right now the iacv wont trip for about 1/2 hour of driving.

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
The IACV doesn't send information to the ECU. It seems that it just "checks" to see if it's there. I run this same setup on my car because I have (had, I have the LS now) Y8 automatic intake manifold which doesn't have a spot drilled for the IACV on the back. Tested positive to work 100%.

Ah, Thank's big daddy :-*

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
If my iacv is bad and i due this would it stop the crazy idle thing? The only thing that would control the idle is the ecu and idle adjuster screw then right?

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
This would fix your issue, yes.

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
Cool thanks. I was wondering about it cause i read somewhere awhile back that you did that to yours and was thinking about it. Thanks again.

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
i know im slow, but other than if yours is broken, what would be the benifit of doing such to my IAVC? ::)
|
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
Race setups with custom manifold don't have IACV, Y8 automatic intake manifold does not have typical two wire IACV and ITB setups will not use an IACV.

Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
is there are reason i shouldnt do this to my car to stop that damn bouncing idle that the TE ROM's are making???
|
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
it's my broken code, thank you, NOT turboedit. Get the blame right plz
I'm working on fixing it. I think I can deal with it for about another 20 min before I shoot something. I need to weld a lip on my charge pipe too cause its popped out 5 times today and its really starting to make me crazy. Hope to have it fixed by the weekend... |
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
Dave, did you get my IM yesterday stating that I love you? :-*
|
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
sorry i know its not a 'TE problem' but it is the best way to explain it....if i just said bouncing ROM would you know what i was talking about? it could be any format...
im going to go get a resistor anyway...its that ------ annoying to me...i already fixed this problem once when i put my B18A1 in, i was about ready to kill myself and the car.... |
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
Hehe... dude, it's not going to work.
The IACV doesn't "speak" to the ECU. It just checks to see if it's there. The IACV act independently based on manifold pressure (correct me if I'm wrong here). I have my LS in right now, still using the IACV "hack", and I still get the bouncing idle. I have no thermo valve, no IACV.. nothing. Only idle control I have is my idle air screw. I still get bouncing idle. |
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
i unpluged it last night and it stopped...but threw a code and the car didnt want to rev up
|
Re:What resistor to put inline of IACV? EF9?
Well, let me know if it works.. IT's only a $2 part.
Then I might have something worse wrong with my setup.. |
