what are the minium connections to start th ECU?

I have an obd1 ecu.

I checked the 3 grounds and 1 12v on connector one. What other input is required to turn on the ECU?

Thanks,
Nick

the fuel pump is turns on for a second, would it do that if the ecu was dead?

They always turn on for a second or two to prime. I have no idea how to test an ECU though. :l

it sounded like ass and died when I gave it gas, but atleast it started.

I'm still not getting a CEL light

I think there are some threads on pgmfi for making test benches. might even be in the library.

It only needs one power and ground to boot up.

I have come acrossed a few ECUs that just wont prime the fuel pump for some reason...not sure why it happens or what fixes yet. When I do...I have about 4 or 5 ECUs sitting here that will be fixed though finally :8

I can fix them. Pm me and I will tell ya the secret. :-*

lol

actually check out the big main caps, they are the main filtering caps for the ecu, most of the time one of them has chewed through a trace. You can put a new one in and jump the pins.

OBD0 has two ground and *TWO* 12v to power it on... and seeing as though OBD0 to OBD1 conversion harnesses use all of the A plug, I would ASSume (without having checked a wiring diagram) that OBD1 would do the same.

The A plug is where things would have to power the ECU on. I did this to test them to make sure they didn't get a solid CEL when chipping ECUs for people. So that works as the "minimum requirements to power on an ECU".

OBD0 only needs one 12v and 1 ground when I boot them up on the test bench.
