what do you think about this (sparks plugs)

ok, i did OBD1 conversion to my ZC, made P30 map copying all tables from ZC DOHC stock one to P30, even with the same rpm rows. now it sound a bit more the exhaust system, i checked sparks plugs and found with this.

i know, i need new gaskets for sparks plugs, and i think will need to replace with new ones..

this is 3 and 4 plugs only i shooted some pics.

im worried about it seems look some aluminium particles in porcelain around electrodes.

it's weird since i copied and pasted all stock values to P30 map... it's time to get WB :-\

anothers inputs , ill appreciate it.

Rich and detonation, small amount of oil related residue on the ground strap.

Double check your ignition timing.

Beat me to it Yoseph, Yeah Walter Looks like oil fouling to me man. The oils probably the biggest part of the detonation problem. I'd bet a few dollars the inside of the cylinders have a lot of carbon build up.

If it's a stock map synch the distributor to the map with a timing light.

yep, ill use my timing light for it, i was thinking about oil too.

it's almost impossible to read plugs like this.. you need to look where the porcelain meets the plug (down in the well)
the portion we can see tells the idle and maybe if we look hard the cruising speed mixture.

Re: what do you think about this (sparks plugs)

Looks like oil residue, ashy.

Tune is definitely off, I'd throw some gear on the car and straighten it out.

Re: what do you think about this (sparks plugs)

do you means cam gears? well, it's kinda weird really, im runing stock one , just with exhaust, i fixed a bit oil leak of spark plug gaskets but ill replace them .

Re: what do you think about this (sparks plugs)

take a picture of the ground strap as well. The second picture you posted looks better for idle fueling but you can definitely see the oiil deposits.

clean off the plugs threads and take a picture of that as well so we can see how hot the plug is getting. If you are able to, a temp fix for the richness could be to run a slightly hotter plug or to run a slightly bigger plug gap. Just be careful gapping iridiums....

Re: what do you think about this (sparks plugs)

Walter like Jd said the tune is off for sure. It doesn't matter what anyone has told you or where you get information from the idea that you can burn a stock rom to a chip and run a car perfectly are wrong.

I don't know what the differance is myself with a chip burned from any honda rom editor ive used compared to a stock ecu. But I do know it doesn't work like a stock ecu. they always need to be tuned mainly in the fuel maps. timing is always real close but a touch here and there goes a long way. I small tip just for you because your my Homey is to retard timing a degree or two at WOT.

This is real general but not always the case, In cruise and low load situations stock roms like a few degrees more timing and need some taken away at wot.

Those look like iridium plugs, what would you want to use, copper plugs, iridium plugs?

Sleep911 04-15-2009 10:45 PM

Don't know to much about the electronics, but if it's oil, you may a crack somewhere in the plug tube/ head, valve cover (if above the threads). Oil can also be coming from worn piston rings.
