Weird chipping issue.
I chipped a P06 and coverted it to VTEC for my car. I tested it on a OBDII car converted to OBDI with VTEC. It gave a solid check engine and no codes. I put it in my OBD0 car converted to OBDI and I get no codes. What do you think the problem is? So it can only run in an OBD0 car that is converted for some reason? Its frustrating me. I always test my ecu work on my buddies car because its VTEC and never seen anything like this. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Weird chipping issue.
Is the OBD0 car vtec? If not, perhaps there could be a problem with the areas you added the vtec components to?

Re: Weird chipping issue.
I used the same chip that was in the VTEC car in mine and switched with a good ship I just burned. I tried the chip in my own car with no CEL and I tried the completely wrong VTEC chip and got no CEL for VTEC codes. Maybe it is the VTEC. I should make a NON VTEC map and try it in his car.

Re: Weird chipping issue.
I just cleaned up all stray solder and went over all the joints again. I will try it tomorrow.

Re: Weird chipping issue.
Had an ECU returned to me last week. I tested it on my vehicle and it was fine. Then gave it to someone else and they couldn't get it to work. I have yet to test it, I am swampped with ----.
90% of the time it is user error on the part of the buyer. But if you tried it yourself it isn't an option I guess. |
Re: Weird chipping issue.
Make sure the OBD2 vehicle has the correct conversion harness. Remember, 99-00 HX's need the OBD2A harness.

Re: Weird chipping issue.
This car has the correct harness. I did all that myself. It used to be my EK. I try all my ECU's in it. I took the ECU in question and ran it in my car last night and it ran perfect. I am going to load a non VTEC map on the chip and try it in the EK and see if it still throws a CEL.

Re: Weird chipping issue.
Check the harness carefully...if it isnt getting the proper amount of voltage or if any of the grounds are loosely hooked it can cause a solid CEL...only other way is bad soldering or bad chip...which it seems you have eliminated.

Re: Weird chipping issue.
It turned out to be the VTEC portion. I burned a non vtec map and there was no CEL. I just sold it as a chipped P06. No big deal. Thanks for the help guys.
