Weird burning problem
 

Well I have this werid situation and I was wondering if anyone might know what is going on. I know we're all pretty much Honda guys on here but I have a friend who owns a VW and he was wondering if I could read and burn him a new chip. I took a look at the chip, 27C512 checked the BURN1 software and said it should work. The chip he wanted me to read was a EIP tuning chip. So I throw the chip in the BURN1 read the chip save buffer to file and throw in a blank 27SF512. Click the program button, sucess, so I thought. I take the chip install it in the ECU and nothing, car won't turn over. I take the chip that I read from plug it in the ECU, starts on 2 cranks.

It's been bugging me out. Did I do something wrong or is there something in the chip that doesn't maybe let you read the entire chip as a preventative to keep people from copying them?

Would appreciate any thoughts that may help.

I'm sure there are ways of copy protecting a burn. EIP has been around for a while so they may have a few tricks up their sleeve.
