Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
goddamn me. I put plastic bags over the dizzy and alternator.
Started car - got a code 13 cel, car cut off started it again, ran long enough for me to pull the car out of the wash bay then anytime I'd put the key to the IG position, the main relay would buzz. Waited for it to dry, eventually the buzzing stopped car *sometimes* will start but the only way I can keep it running is to modulate the throttle wildly. As soon as I keep the throttle at a steady position, the car just dies. Idled as solid as a rock though... Cant get it to start back up. Left it there for the night :( |
Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
You power washed your engine and engine bay? Damn.... I usually just hose it down with degrease and just a light mist of water. Never direct water on it. What car did you do this to?

Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
ecu or the wiring harnes to it is wet, have fun.
Park car in the garage for a weekend to air out.......... |
Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
I have never had a problem from getting the harness wet.Is there water on the floor board by the ecu?You check all the plugs are on and tight etc?

Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
I did this to the 89 hatch with Z6, 14b. ECU itself isnt wet. I've got another PM6 I can chip just incase I pissed this one off but I doubt it. I think i might have possibily killed the main relay :(
I'm gonna go back after work. Hopefully the 100 degree South Carolina heat can dry it out over the next 8 hours :( /kicks self in ass.. should have just left it dirty |
Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
Main relay? The power washer is so strong it blasted through your firewall and got to your main relay? :o

Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
take it out and inspect the solder joints for cracks.

Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
Did you wash the engine while it was hot? After a raping maybe?

Re: Washed engine bay. Now I got problems
CSAddict - yeah thats the first thing im gonna check. Gonna drive my EF wagon to check it out, so I'll have another main relay I could try on the car.
The engine was warm but not hot. Car wash is about 2 miles from my house. Got to car-wash, chilled for a while then started cleaning the bay. Didnt spray any water/cleaner on the hot parts. Didnt want to crack my manifold in half. :3 |
