It's HIGHLY suggested. You could get away without it, but the consequences would be harsh if the stock pump couldn't hang with the fuel consumption. :-\

Imagine yourself at 12psi and your about to hit redline and all of the sudden your fuel pump can't keep up with the high demand your motor is needing and BAM! There goes your ringlands. :'(

Yeah I'd recommend upgrading the fuel pump with any setup you build. It's just a nice security to have I guess.

Re:Walbro 255 do i need it

Would a Walbro 190 be sufficient on a ZC w/Probe turbo pushing about 10 psi. The reason I am asking is that is the pump that came with a kit that I bought off of a Friend. Also it would be with 450's and probably chipped with Turboedit.
Thanks for any help.

I made 237hp on my stock Crx pump. B16 w/ 450's @8psi
Since you're fueling with 450's/TE and not an FMU you can get alot more mileage outa the stocker.

I will admit though that with my new setup (10psi, 900cc, and bumped base FP to 45), the FP starts to drop from 7000-8500; deff. runniny outa pump. Had to increase the injector pulse-width up top to compensate, so ya' I am getting a new pump. But on a Dseries, I would feel comfortable staying with the stocker. IMHO

I've taken Honda motors up to 20psi with no upgraded fuel pump. Just something to throw in the mix :P

OK.. just a silly question - why would standard fuel pump be insufficent for, let's say 10psi?

It's not like that at 10 psi you'll use 4x more fuel than on non-turbo engine at WOT.
I understand need for inline pump for FMU, but for such pressures (stock) with larger injectors... I don't see a need - except maybe just to be on 'safe side' to put more quality pump.. but still.

AFAIK if you use 440cc injectors vs. 240cc you will at WOT in worst case use 2x fuel than before. And how many lph has stock pump? I bet more than enough....
With 990cc or similar.. yes, than I'd say upgrade...
