VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
ok this is a friends car
1992 GTi w/ a G60 swap and an upgraded blower and this fuckers runs rich as hell (no WB on it yet but its bad) no matter what we try it constantly runs rich to the point that gas could pour out the exhast at any minute and barely runs stock ECu w/ stock inj runs fine (didnt try to drive for obvious reasons) stock ecu w/ stock injectors w/ FMU turned all the way down, runs rich (normal FMU condition, just figured we'd try it) chipped ECU w/ 40# inj runs rich. chipped ECU w/ 40# inj base fuel pressure turned way down runs rich w/ the car running fine on the stock setup i'm sure the wiring is just fine. cant figure out why it wants to dump so much fuel with the chipped ECU. the program for his car is what the SC manufacturer recommends. any ideas?? |

Have you let it warm up all the way. It may just be cold start post fuel kind of a thing.

Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
I was actually working on a 91 G60 tonight, they are pretty fun cars besides the random electrical fires and bitch of a supercharger. If he still has that ISV valve ( looks like a giant fuel injector on top of the valve cover) you can re-route it back into the intake charge pipe and plug the hole in the return (if its still there). And make sure the ecu is grounded GOOD, they are real picky. I cant imagine any "chip" a manufacturer would send with a supercharger will have an entirely accurate tune, thats more than likely the biggest problem.
Edit: Is this one of the "stage" kits available? if so which one and did it come with the camshaft? I am looking at one of these upgrade kits for that motor they seem to run about $300 for a 17psi pulley, cam, and chip. |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
i think it is just the first stage: blower, ECU, inj, intercooler. he should be making around 200hp.
i'm sure the manufacturer knows what will make the car run decent but not perfect, but this is bad. |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
lysholm supercharged cars are the most annoying thing i have ever heard...im getting flashbacks to WaterWagons and the BaunBrenner cars.. :3
anyway chips for VW;s dont work... you want your VW to run right? swap to standalone [includes stock cars :P]... |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
Lysholm chargers are def annoying, they sound like an old fire truck siren. I don't miss my G60 one bit, well except for handling and braking.

Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
i was thinking to just run the stock G60 ecu and injectors and put a wideband on it and see what it looks like. if it was lean then try throwing a 3bar FPR on it.
i suggested MSnS but he doesnt want to throw money at the car just to get it to run right when people have made this setup work |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
I had a problem with mine running rich at one point, turns out it was a bad oxygen sensor. If your sure it's not the chip than I would put the stock injectors in with the chip and see what happens.

Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
just throw the G60/digi2 ---- back on there with some slightly larger (35lbs?) injectors and a adjustable FPR and crank at the fucker till it runs good
|
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
it ran best w/ the stock ecu/inj and FMU but still isnt right at all, he may just haev to deal with it untill he gets some a better EMS.
i've seen MK2 1.8t swaps go easier than this :-\ |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
So did you ever figure this out?
I am helping one of my friends this weekend with his g60 again, this weekend we are putting in a kit he got (autotek maybe?) Its comprised of a smaller supercharger pulley, camshaft, fpr, and chip for the ecu. I'm trying to talk him into megasquirt but he thinks it will run perfect on this chip ::). |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
i havent talked to him in about a week, last time it still didnt get any better.
if he is still using the stock charger he shouldenthave any issues |
Re: VW G60 lysholm charger running WAY rich
So I put in the cam, porshe 944 fpr, smaller pulley and stuck the chip in his ecu. It ran fine for a day or two, broke in the cam and ripped on it a little. Told him not to until we get a wideband on it but w/e its not my car. last night it starts chugging as we are cruising through town and we limp it back to my shop. pull out the plugs and they are covered in carbon deposits. cleaned em off and it ran fine again for another half an hour when they were carboned up again. The thing is running so rich the tip is even covered in carbon, I'm trying to talk him into megasquirt but he doesnt want to spend the money. I peeled the sticker off the chip that came with that kit and it is a 27C256, so i wonder if I will be able to read the program with my burner and open it in crome, (prolly not but worth a try). Does anyone know of rom editing software for 1990 G60 VW corrado?

VW guys are secretive about thier ECU work, thats why so many run SDS and MS.
what bar is the 944 reg?? 2.5 right?? |
