VTEC on p06 without adding anything
 

Now, i dont write the software, but i was wondering, why can't we do vtec without using the p28 extra's, i have chipped a couple p06's and added vtec and i hate doing it... so i was thinking, why not use the AC out for vtec? but some code would need to be written.. Any comments would be welcome.

hmm i wonder if that would work as well considering with obd0 you can do that.

I converted my P06 to a P28 in about 25 mins. Take longer to write the code.

agreed. not to mention, p28's, p30's, p72's, p05's, pr4's, etc., all share the same motherboard, so why not make a non vtec ecu a vtec ecu properly and still be able to use all intended vtec features including vtec pressure switch, and if you want to take the extra time, a knock board as well. all the one wire solution does is supply a 12v power source to the solenoid.

I'm not dumb, and as i have stated, I hate doing the p06-p28 conversion. It would help ALOT of people out to strait up be able to just repin 1 pin and BAM they have vtec. And if you are a good code wrighter, you would have no problem doing this in 25 minutes.

It would be nice to have for everyone that is cheap out their (like 99% of hmt) VTEC pressure switch's are for pussies. Why have one? if your motor is out of oil you should know ;-) and if your not getting oil pressure your idiot light will come on and if you dont have the idiot light hooked up then why are you worrying about the vtec pressure?

I dunno, i just see it as an easy alternative, And i bet many others would to.


oh, and if i remember correctly, all the vtec pressure switch stuff is already in the ecu, your not adding anything for that. ( I'm not positive, but i think so)... Right there you could already have vtec pressure if thats right :-)

here ya go, my present to you josh. use acc or pcs to activate vtec via one wire
obd1 one wire vtec

i personally would rather take the 15 minutes to convert the ecu to a fully functional p28, then you can run any obd1 program and still have vtec with no wiring.

thank you, and you will still have wiring on obd 1 cars, just not 92's... all 93-95's you have to add the wire.

not if you're car came equipped with vtec. you'll always have wiring if the car isn't equipped with vtec obviously, even if it's just from the solenoid to the shock tower, it's never plug and play unless the car came equipped with vtec.

no, as of right now, nitrous script doesn't have seperate maps, it's still being tested, but it does have the ability to send power to a solenoid via one wire, just cut and paste vtec maps after the desired rpm which you set it to engage if that's what you want to do, but i still don't see why you would want to use this as an option, if you convert the ecu to a p28, you can run uberdata, crome, hondata and/or any other rom editor with vtec support, instead of being limited to one program. the main reason this was a huge development for obd0 is more or less the lack/non existence or obd0 vtec usdm ecu's, and the fact that even the jdm vtec ecu's are have totally different code than what the 'chippable' usdm ecu's have and therfore pretty much require support from a different program other than turbo edit.

Where did this rumor start that TurboEDIT doesn't support PR3/PW0? PR3/PW0 don't have boost code. They're bastard ECUs.. but whatever support is out there, as far as I know, TurboEDIT supports it.
