WOT has nothing to do with oil pressure.

RPM does.

WOT @ 1000 rpm isnt going to have more oil pressure than 1000 rpm closed throttle.

......ok, on a constructive note. How much pressure does ur car make at 7000rpm?

Now that I read that over again for the second time it makes little sense. None of my other cars have different oil pressure levels that are set by by different RPMs. I might be a noob here but I'm not a noob to cars in general. In both my Camaro and Nova, the idle pressure is around 25psi, my cruise pressure is around 40-45 psi, and WOT no matter what RPM above ~2500~ RPM is around 70 psi. At a certain psi of pressure the pump will maxed out which on a SBC its around 70-80. If your theory was true then an RX7 that spins twice the rpm should then have twice the psi which would be around 140psi.....which is not true

i think it is rpm based, with the pump flowing more the faster it spins, which is related to engine rpm. with the rx7 example, it may use a smaller pump that dose not flow as much. maby 1/2 as much at idle, and at 10k rpms runs at 70 psi or so..

But im wasted right now, and not sure if i got a grasp on the situation right now.

Yes that makes sense, but why do all of the sbc's max out at 70-80 psi before my highest rpm. I could have 80psi before I hit 4000rpm? And it doesn't go any higher.

igotnothin, when ur over to the shop today we can take the Nova for a spin and I'll show you what I'm talking about. I know that Hondas have a pump that spins off the crank and sbc's spin off the camshaft but I think the concept is still the same.

OK.....so I just called my machinist/engine builder and spoke with him about oil pumps, he said that oil pressure is based off of three variables. Oil viscosity, rpm, and type of oil pump. He also mentioned that oil pumps have a bleed off valve inside of them that release the extra oil pressure once it gets up to the "max" psi. This bleeder valve acts like a wastegate in our turbo cars. He also said that in my case since I run high pressure pumps in my Chevy motors the pressure shoots up alot quicker than if I had a stock pump.

So in the end, rpm is a major factor but not the only factor to oil psi

Your absolutely right, its tops off. I didnt mean it will keep rising as you get up to 20k rpm lol.

My mistake.

What I was basically trying to get across is WOT has nothing to do with it.

so did you disable the pressure switch

This is something I had to learn doing all the obd2 jdm swaps since in Jap land all obd2 vtechhhh solenoids dont have the pressure switch
