VAFC vs. chipped ecu to control vtec

I was just wondering, which one would take priority?

Say you have a chipped ecu with a bin that engages vtec at 5500 rpm. You then hook up a vafc and set it to engage at 4500 rpm. Does the vafc override the chipped ecu the same as it does to a stock ecu?

VAFC will tell the VTEC solennoid when to turn on since this is what sends the 12v...the ECU will always tell itself when to change maps based on the VTEC point.

So if you set VTEC on the VAFC to 4400 and VTEC in the ECU is 5800...you are running on the low cam maps (fuel and ignition for 1400 rpms even though VTEC is actually "ON"

get it?

another reason they suck...

I thought as much, damn that's an ugly setup!

Yes.

wait a second...i thought you could change the fuel maps also...and have them change over when the vtech kicked in......

Not with an AFC, it only sends voltage to activate the vtec solenoid and has nothing to do with fuel/timing maps.
